Trea burst onto the scene as one of the most exciting young players in Major League Baseball in 2015. Trea finished second in voting for 2016 NL Rookie of the Year honors and became the first rookie in 112 years to have a game with four hits, four runs scored, a home run, and two stolen bases. In 2017, he set the Washington single-season record for steals and became the second-youngest player in history, after Joe DiMaggio, to drive in seven or more runs while also hitting for the cycle. And in 2018, he was the second Nationals player ever to play in all 162 games and was awarded the Nationals Heart and Hustle Award which recognized him for his passion for the game of baseball and embodiment of the values, spirit, and traditions of the game.
Off the field, Trea enjoys time with family, learning about businesses and finance, is an avid computer gamer, and has a passion for new restaurants and travel. He and his wife Kristen both attended NC State as student-athletes and were married in November of 2018. During their time in the Wolfpack, they learned of Jim Valvano and the V Foundation and have focused their efforts to help raise money for pediatric cancer awareness. This season, Trea and Kristen spearheaded the Steal Bases Stop Cancer PledgeIt campaign.
