Upcoming, Vergara will return for her second season as a judge on NBC’s hit reality series, America’s Got Talent. She will serve on the judging panel alongside Simon Cowell, AGT’s creator and executive producer, Howie Mandel, and Heidi Klum, as well as host Terry Crews. Consistently topping weekly ratings, America’s Got Talent will return for its 16th season on June 1, 2021.
On the big screen, she is set to produce and lend her voice to the animated comedy Koati, which follows three unlikely heroes — Nachi, a free-spirited coatí; Xochi, a fearless monarch butterfly; and Pako, a hyperactive glass frog — as they embark on an adventure to stop wicked coral snake Zaina (Vergara) from destroying their rainforest homeland and friends. Produced simultaneously in English and Spanish, the film is slated for release later this year.
Vergara’s film credits include Bottom of the 9th opposite Joe Manganiello, Bobby Moresco’s Bent, Whitney Cummings’ The Female Brain, The Emoji Movie, The Smurfs, Happt Feet 2, New Year’s Eve, Four Brothers, Fading Gigolo, Chef, Wild Card and Big Trouble. Other box office sensations include Meet The Browns, Madea Goes to Jail, and Hot Pursuity, on which Vergara also served as a producer.
On stage, Vergara earned rave reviews for her Broadway debut as ‘Mama Morton’ in the 2009 production of CHICAGO.
In the Hispanic market, her past television credits include Fuera De Serie, a special guest appearance on Univision’s soap opera, Fuego En La Sangre, as well as the Spanish version of Desperate Housewives, for which she served as an executive producer.
Along with the recognition she has earned in her acting career, Vergara is a successful entrepreneur and global businesswoman. In 2019, Vergara launched Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara, an exclusive denim line on WALMART.com. The initial collection featured nearly 100 items, ranging from jeans and denim jackets to fashion tops and graphic tees. The size-inclusive collection encourages women to work with what they’ve got.
In response to the devastating global pandemic, Vergara established the Global COVID-19 Response Fund with Kiva, the world’s first personal micro-lending website. Originally set out to raise $50M, together they surpassed their goal and have already raised over $60M, providing direct and efficient funds to marginalized populations across the world, including minorities, women and those in isolated areas impacted by COVID-19.
In addition to her success as an actress and entrepreneur, Vergara is also a committed philanthropist. Vergara works closely with St Jude Children’s Research Hospital and has participated in the “Thanks and Giving” campaign, as well as hosted a private reception for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to raise awareness and support for its lifesaving mission: Finding cures.
