Sara Ramirez is an actress, activist, singer and songwriter, best known for her role on “Grey’s Anatomy.” She graduated with a fine arts degree from the Juilliard School, and began acting in Broadway productions, making her debut with Paul Simon’s “The Capeman.”

Ramirez later ventured into film and television roles, gaining wider recognition for her role as Dr. Callie Torres, in ABC’s long-running medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy”. The character’s popularity soared as the series progressed, and Ramirez garnered multiple nominations for Best Actress at the ALMA Awards, and a Favorite Dramatic TV Actress nomination at the People’s Choice Awards. Ramirez is a recipient of a Tony Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a Satellite Award among other accolades. In 2017, Ramirez joined the cast of “Madam Secretary” as series regular in their fourth season, and two years later announced that she’d be leaving the show indefinitely.

In 2016, Ramirez produced the teen comedy “Loserville”, which was released in partnership with the Pacer Foundation’s Center for Bullying Prevention & Stomp Out Bullying. She is an activist and extensively campaigns for LGBT rights, and in 2015 was awarded the Ally for Equality Award by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
