Sandy “Pepa” Denton is the spiciest ingredient in the legendary rap group Salt-N-Pepa, and has been the star of hit VH-1 shows The Surreal Life and The Salt-N-Pepa Show.

In 2008, Pepa penned her telling memoir Let’s Talk About Pep. In it, she talked about sex, music, life, love, fame, and much more. Uncensored, Pepa showed she is a fighter, survivor, and an inspiration to women everywhere.

Having overcome molestation, low self esteem and physical abuse, Pepa states “Most of you know me as Pep, or Pepa, the fun-loving half of Salt-N-Pepa. I am the party girl, the one who is down for whatever. But behind the laughs and the smiles is a whole lot of pain.”

Pepa is a pop culture icon whose remarkable story is every bit as captivating and provocative as her Grammy Award-winning music. She began her career in college where she met Cheryl “Salt” James. They worked together at Sears and Roebucks alongside future stars Martin Lawrence, Kid N’ Play and a budding music producer named Hurby “LuvBug” Azor.

Azor recorded Salt-N-Pepa’s first song “Show Stopper” that quickly became an underground hit and led to a recording contract. Their first album, Hot, Cool & Vicious, had three hits, including “Push It,” which sold more than a million copies and became the first rap song to be nominated for a Grammy.
