Ryan Sallans is a renowned transgender speaker, author, and advocate who works to help institutions create inclusive environments that support their LGBTQ employees, students, clients and patients. He became internationally known after the release of the LOGO channel documentary “Gender Rebel,” which followed him in the beginning steps of his transition from female to male in 2005. He has also appeared on various TV and radio shows including Larry King Live, Ricki: The New Ricki Lake Show, Trisha, HuffPost Live, and On Point with Tom Ashbrook.
Having conducted thousands of speaking engagements over the past twenty years, Sallans continues to dedicate his life to advancing his skills and knowledge as a professional speaker and storyteller. Through his personal story and genuine approach, he is able to connect with everyone in the room, even those who may be resistant to the topic. While many haven’t experienced being transgender, there is a human experience that Sallans shares with the audience that engages true empathy within others. Along with public speaking, Sallans is the author of the memoirs “Transforming Manhood: A trans man’s quest to build bridges and knock down walls” and “Second Son: Transitioning Toward My Destiny, Love and Life.”
Sallans attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English and anthropology, Master of Arts in English, and a Master of Arts in educational psychology.
