Never Say Never…Ten Lessons to Turn You Can’t into Yes I Can
Phyllis shares 10 essential lessons she learned from her vast and varied experience from turning adversity into success, from Miss America to the first woman co-anchor of the national football pre-game show “NFL Today,” to first lady of Kentucky, actress, entrepreneur, and award-winning humanitarian and businesswoman. She includes inspirational stories from high-profile personalities, such as Walter Cronkite, Larry King, Roger Staubach, Barbara Taylor Bradford, Muhammad Ali, Paula Zahn, Terry Bradshaw, and many more.
Alzheimer’s: Finding A Path to Peace
Phyllis presents a passionate talk on her personal story dealing with losing her best friend, her mother, to Alzheimer’s disease. She explains how she provided a dignified life for her after going through denial, depression, and determination. Phyllis understands that many people do not feel comfortable talking about the subject and don’t know what to do when they face the facts. Phyllis provides encouragement and inspiration for caregivers as they go through this difficult time in their lives and that of the person for whom they are caring.
Taking Care of the Caregiver
Like many baby-boomers in the sandwich generation, caregivers can be so concerned about taking care of their loved ones that they lose sight of their own health and well-being. Phyllis talks about juggling several responsibilities: a long distance primary caregiver for her elderly parents in Texas, as well as taking care of her former husband after heart by-pass surgery, coupled with raising two children and finding time for her own needs. Many caregivers feel alone, helpless, confused, unprepared, frustrated, angry, stressed, depressed, and unable to provide for the needs of their family members. Phyllis gives ways to cope for caregivers through hope, support, and guidance through difficulties of this illness. Phyllis is working on her sixth book called Loving Care: Lessons for Caregivers.
At the Heart of It All
Phyllis shares many personal stories about her father, who died from heart disease, and her former husband who had two bypass surgeries – one life-threatening. She remembers her own wake up call when she had seven out of ten symptoms for a heart attack (which luckily turned out to be stress related) and ended up in the emergency room. Phyllis talks candidly about how to handle stress and is very passionate about raising the awareness of heart disease-the #1 killer for men and women.
An Evening with Phyllis George
Invite Phyllis to share her amazing life in the public eye from becoming Miss America in 1971, to the former first lady of Kentucky, through the myriad channels of TV from hosting Candid Camera and NFL football, to being an entrepreneur as the founder of Chicken by George. She’s a mother, role model, actress, author, and award-winning humanitarian. It’s an evening you won’t forget. She will enlighten you with her humor, knowledge, wit and passion.
