The WNBA All-Star and 2012 WNBA Rookie of the Year, Nneka Ogwumike was the first overall pick to the Los Angeles Sparks in the 2012 WNBA Draft. With Nneka’s sister Chiney’s selection as the first overall pick to the Connecticut Sun in the 2014 WNBA Draft, the sisters made history, joining Peyton and Eli Manning as the only siblings ever selected number one overall in a professional sports league.

The 6’2″ forward and Cypress, Texas native of Nigerian descent averaged 14.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and a team-leading 1.47 steals per game in 2013 and finished second in the WNBA with a 56.6 percent shooting percentage and third in the league in total offensive rebounds (95).

In 2012-2013 Nneka led CCC Polkowice to win the Polish League’s championship and Polish Cup as well as leading the team to the EuroLeague Women Final Eight. In 2013-2014, Nneka played for the Guangdong Dolphins of the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WBCA), averaging 27.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

Nneka had a storied college career at Stanford, having led the school to four consecutive Final Four appearances. The three-time Wade Trophy, Wooden Award finalist and former Pac-10 Player of the Year earned a gold medal with the USA Basketball World University Games team in 2011. While at Stanford, Nneka and her sister Chiney redefined the word “Nerd” through several music videos which they conceptualized and produced, celebrating the culture of the school in a movement entitled “Nerd Nation.” Nneka is passionate about giving back and empowering the next generation.
