Nick Bertke, better known on the web and in the music scene as Pogo, is behind such movie remixes as Alice, Upular and Skynet Symphonic. Nick has worked for major studios, including Disney, Pixar and Showtime, been written up in the Wall Street Journal, performed for YouTube Play at the Guggenheim Museum, and has managed to share his music with over 11 million people on YouTube. Nick’s unique multi-media presentation is a look at his accomplishments with creativity, inspiration, and music and video production. He shares with his audiences the making of and a behind the scenes look at his renowned videos while performing a live remix.
Nicks parents bought him a desktop tape recorder when he was two years old and has since been associated with rhythm and melody. He discovered the world of MIDI when he was 9, and formed a band with friends called Minor Conflict at 10 and won several talent quests. Between ages 7 and 18, he filled over 90 cassette tapes with recordings of music he liked on the radio. Dance, House, Hip-Hop, Drum & Bass, even Jazz and Classical. Nick began using Playstation games Music and Music 2000 before discovering PC software like Cakewalk and FLStudio. He began taking films starting off with Oliver! splicing sounds and piecing them together like a jigsaw puzzle. He later worked on Alice In Wonderland to produce the track and video Alice, which sky-rocketed his internet identity as a music producer far beyond expectation.
After developing a large devoted following with his videos on YouTube, he signed on and began working professionally for Walt Disney Studios. He met with Pixar masterminds to discuss remixing their latest film Up. Nicks remix, Upular, went on to collect over 3 million views on YouTube, exceeding the views on Pixars own YouTube channel. Nick later went on to remix Toy Story, A Little Mermaid and Pirates Of The Caribbean.
Nicks work has since generated tremendous corporate appeal. He has produced for Honda, Showtime and Harpo Studios, and many commercials. His first remix of the real world, Gardyn, made the top 25 of YouTube Play 2010 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York. Nick is speaking and playing live across North America.
