Meredith Fineman is a best-selling author, host, speaker, writer, and entrepreneur. Fineman is the author of Brag Better: Master the Art of Fearless Self-Promotion (Portfolio Penguin Randomhouse, 2020). Brag Better is based on her ten years of building a framework for strategic self-promotion grounded in public relations, strategic communications, and leadership professional development. The book is for The Qualified Quiet – those that have done the work but don’t know how to talk about it. This audience term is one that Fineman owns and created. The book has been published domestically and in China, Korea, Hungary, and Taiwan.
Fineman’s core venture is the Brag Better Bootcamp: a four-week e-learning series based around the principles of her findings with strategic self-promotion. She leads Bootcamps for individuals quarterly, as well as versions for brands, companies, and corporations with specialties in addressing issues around cultivating an environment of healthy pride, a diversity of voices, championing employee work, and bragging on behalf of yourself and others. Her individual clients range from entrepreneurs to corporate leadership, new members of the workforce to middle management looking to kickstart careers. Her corporate and brand clients range from Fortune 500 companies to household tech brands.
A freelance writer of 17 years, Fineman has held columns and bylines in outlets from Harvard Business Review, to FastCompany, Forbes, Inc, Elle, Shondaland, Cosmopolitan, and more. She writes about entrepreneurship, business, women’s issues, and fashion. She also consults on the publishing industry and collaborated on a best-selling book, Microtrends Squared, which came out in 2018. She is the founder of Women Write Washington, an event series celebrating women-identifying authors.
Fineman is a frequent speaker on stages domestically and globally. She has spoken to brands like Levi’s, to conferences like the 3% conference, and to universities like Stanford. She is represented exclusively by American Program Bureau. Her topics range from her core Brag Better philosophy to Bragging Better and visibility for women, to corporate culture and a diversity of voices. She is available for custom keynotes and training.
With an interest in sustainable fashion, Fineman launched a podcast in 2018 called It Never Gets Old, to examine the world of resale and consignment, a multi-billion-dollar industry with implications for climate, spending, and labor reform. She is an expert in this area – both speaking and writing on the future of fashion. In 2015 she launched Hillary Scrunchies with her best friend, a US-based scrunchie brand in the lead up to the 2016 election. It was covered in Time Magazine, Refinery29, and others.
Fineman graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2009, Magna Cum Laude with a double major in communications and Hispanic studies. She is “lifer” of the Sidwell Friends School. Fineman resides in Washington, DC with her pink-tailed dog Bean.
