Maxwell Wessel is the Innovation and Transformation Lead for SAP North America. At SAP, Wessel is responsible for empowering innovators to bring disruptive and sustaining innovations to market and working to help tear down structural barriers that may stand in the way. He previously served as a fellow at Harvard Business School’s Forum for Growth and Innovation, a think tank devoted to developing the academic understanding of the innovation process.
Wessel’s research focused on product development, how companies can adapt to changing market conditions, and identifying the technologies that enable disruption.
Wessel has written on the subjects of innovation and entrepreneurship for the Harvard Business Review, Bloomberg Business Week, and Business Insider. He has advised various Fortune 100 companies on the subject of innovation and served as an advisor to various venture backed startups in the consumer internet and clean-tech industries—most notably, SnagFilms, LLC; Arcanum Alloy Design; and Modular Carpet Recycling. Additionally, Wessel previously founded a consumer internet company that automated the performance booking process for independent musicians and venue owners.
Maxwell Wessel received a BA in economics and philosophy from Northwestern University where he graduated with distinction. He also received an MBA with high distinction from Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and a Rock Fellow.
