Full Bio
Well known television sports broadcaster. It almost seems as if destiny brought sportscaster Marv Albert to the current job he holds today. Right out of college it was inevitable that Marv would be commentating for a major network. With his deep and captivating voice Marv is able to successfully keep the fans of whatever sport they are watching interested in the game the entire time. He frequently referred to as “the voice of basketball” as well as “the voice of the New York Knicks”.
Sports speaker Marv Albert graduated from New York University in 1965 and two years later was working as the analyst for the New York Knicks. Marv was not given any handouts. He had to work for his job with the Knicks starting out as a ball boy until he finally got his chance. His background in communications and strong work ethic earned him the position. After leaving the Knicks Marv worked for NBC for 37 years calling hundreds of major league games in all sports. The amount of experience he has is out of this world. Marv has called 6 Superbowls, 6 NBA Finals, and 7 Stanley Cup Finals. Marv is currently on the TNT team as a play-by-play announcer with Steve Kerr and Reggie Miller. Outside of the commentating role Marv is very popular. Here and there he will be invited to be a guest on the David Letterman’s late night talk show and bring with him a series of hilarious gut-busting clips of NBA bloopers which he calls the “Albert Achievement Awards”.
In the past Marv has worked with Mike Fratello, Jeff Van Gundy, Magic Johnson, and Doug Collins. For his work as a sportscaster Marv has earned himself a few Primetime Emmy awards as well as the honor of being inducted into the Basketball Hall-of-Fame. Five of these came from working on national sports, and the other three come from his time in New York working on MSG network and the YES network. In 1993 he co-authored an autobiography with Rick Reilly entitled I’d Love to, But I Have a Game.
