Marcellus Wiley is a former NFL Athlete, author, and highly successful sports media personality. Born and raised in Compton, California, at a young age he discovered his passion and talent for sports and had an impressive intellectual acuity. Wiley’s academic and athletic achievements granted him admission to Columbia University, where he received his Bachelor’s in Sociology. He also was voted team captain of the football team, All-Ivy League (twice), Sid Luckman MVP, and an All-American in 1997.

Marcellus Wiley is a former NFL Athlete, author, and highly successful sports media personality. Born and raised in Compton, California, at a young age he discovered his passion and talent for sports and had an impressive intellectual acuity. Wiley’s academic and athletic achievements granted him admission to Columbia University, where he received his Bachelor’s in Sociology. He also was voted team captain of the football team, All-Ivy League (twice), Sid Luckman MVP, and an All-American in 1997.

Wiley played ten seasons in the NFL starting with the Buffalo Bills (1997-2000), San Diego Chargers (2001-03), Dallas Cowboys (2004), and Jacksonville Jaguars (2005-06). He was selected to the AFC Pro Bowl team in 2001 while being voted to the NFL’s top 50 players list twice. Known for his community involvement, he was voted three times by his team as the Walter Payton Man of the year.

 

Post-NFL, Marcellus seamlessly and successfully segued into broadcast media as an analyst. After an impeccable eleven years with ESPN as the co-host of the hit TV show SportsNation and hit radio show Max & Marcellus on ESPNLA 710am, Marcellus has moved on to join the FOX SPORTS team as the co-host of the top-rated and most fearless show in sports SPEAK FOR YOURSELF alongside Emmanuel Acho. SFY highlights daily hot topics and current events every day in sports. All while pursuing his career as an author of his first autobiography titled Never Shut Up: The Life, Opinions, And Unexpected Adventures of an NFL Outlier.

 

Marcellus’ unique experience of having survived the hardships of growing up in one of America’s toughest cities to becoming an Ivy League football star, NFL All-Pro Athlete, and a staple in the sports entertainment industry, gives him a unique outlook on life. He is both relatable and adept at delving into topics ranging from sports to social issues with a breadth and depth of understanding. His charismatic personality appeals to a broad fan base making him one of the most well-respected sports analysts in the industry.

 

When not on the air, Wiley is hard at work overseeing his portfolio of business interests, touring as a motivational speaker, and using his talents to make a difference in his community.  Project Transition, Wiley’s charitable organization, provides leadership training to at-risk youth with the goal of creating tomorrow’s thought leaders.
