Moore is currently in production for Twentieth Century Fox’s sci-fi thriller, The Darkest Minds, in which she stars as “Cate” alongside Amandla Stenberg and Patrick Gibson. After a disease kills 98% of America’s children, the surviving 2% develop superpowers and are placed in internment camps. The film, directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson (Kung Fu Panda) is set to release on September 14, 2018.

In March 2017, Moore voiced the lead character ‘Rapunzel’ in Disney’s animated series Tangled and in the Disney Channel Original Movie, Tangled Before Ever After. The film earned $591 million in worldwide box office revenue and was nominated for a number of awards, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.

Critics took notice of Moore’s performance in Brian Dannelly’s 2004 acclaimed film Saved, such as Peter Travers of Rolling Stone who called her “fiercely funny.” The film was produced by Michael Stipe and Sandy Stern and co-stars Jena Malone, Eva Amurri, Macaulay Culkin, Patrick Fugit and Mary-Louise Parker. Adam Shankman cast her in the film adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ A Walk to Remember which went on to become a cult classic. Her self-titled third album, another major seller, featured the #1 hit single “Cry.” Moore’s critically acclaimed fourth album, Coverage, highlighted a remarkable collection of classic and some of her personal favorite songs by Elton John, Joan Armatrading, Todd Rundgren and Cat Stevens, among many others. In 2007, Moore released her fifth album, Wild Hope, where she collaborated with critically acclaimed singer/songwriters Lori McKenna, Rachael Yamagata and The Weepies. The album, produced by John Alagia (Dave Matthews, John Mayer, Liz Phair), was praised by Billboard as having “thoughtful musings on love and life…an album full of subtle, but undeniable hooks.” Moore released her sixth studio album, Amanda Leigh, in 2009 and received great critical acclaim for her work as a co-writer on the album. The album, which featured vintage instrumentation, made Entertainment Weekly’s “Must List” the week it was released. TIME Magazine called it “…an impeccably recorded album of mature songs” while Rolling Stone lauded the effort with a four-star review.

In 2008 Moore joined the global health organization PSI as a Global Ambassador. On her first trip with PSI, she helped launch a distribution of 3 million insecticide-treated mosquito nets in South Sudan. The initiative, a partnership with the Southern Sudanese Ministry of Health and with funding from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria ensured that pregnant women and newborn babies are protected from the deadly disease.

In 2010 and 2011, Moore helped raise more than $2.2 million for PSI through the United Nations Foundation’s Nothing But Nets campaign to support nationwide net distributions in the Central African Republic and Cameroon. She visited both countries to launch the distribution and joined a bipartisan group of U.S. congressional staffers in Cameroon to learn how partnership plays a critical role in covering an entire country with long-lasting insecticide-treated mosquito nets. In 2011 Moore was chosen by the UN as a Malaria Champion alongside President George W. Bush, Ban Ki Moon, Awa Coll Seck and more. Moore also visited Tanzania to encourage greater access to contraception for women and couples. In Trinidad and Tobago and India Moore helped raise awareness of the impact gender based violence has on women and families.
