Kristen Johnston’s career includes theater, film and, of course, television. She won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series playing Sally Solomon on the iconic television series “3rd Rock from the Sun,” and appeared in numerous notable productions since.
She is credited with many on-screen appearances, such as “ER”, “Ugly Betty,” “Bored To Death,” “Sex and the City” and “Mom.” She previously made her screen debut in the short film “The Debt”, which won a number of awards at international film festivals including the 1993 Cannes Film Festival, and has gone on to co-star in such films as “The Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas”, “Strangers with Candy”, “Finding Bliss”, “Music & Lyrics”, “Bride Wars”, “L!fe Happens”, and “Vamps.”
Johnston also has a long and celebrated theater career, including the hit production of “So Help Me God!,” and the “Love Song,” “The Women,” “Baltimore Waltz,” “Much Ado About Nothing” and “Twelfth Night.”
Among her extensive career, Johnston has taught acting at NYU (the Atlantic Acting School) and with MCC’s youth outreach program. Her first book, “GUTS, the endless follies and tiny triumphs of a giant disaster” was published in 2002, and she runs the charitable organization SLAM (Sobriety, Learning and Motivation) which is dedicated to creating a public high school designed to providing a top-notch education for at-risk youths while recovering from their life-threatening addictions.
