Kevin, an Ohio native, became a certified recreational diver in high school and then served in the US Navy as a Navy diver. But his ongoing passion for adventure didn’t end after his tour of duty in Guantanamo Bay; he then worked as a commercial diver, a scuba instructor, and assisted his uncle and cousin in an Ohio dive shop.

Unfortunately, painful and debilitating back problems have plagued Kevin since his time in the Navy. In 2010, he underwent surgery on his neck and lower back. Although he was unable to return to his previous employment, Kevin’s entrepreneural spirit would not let this challenge keep him from providing for his family.

While watching an episode of “Bering Sea Gold,” Kevin and his wife decided that real life treasure hunting is something he could do, and do well. In fact the weightless underwater environment of the sea is the ideal working condition for Kevin.

Nome is not an easy place to live, but careful research, planning and a conservative approach allowed Kevin to stay when others had to return home. Word of mouth and a solid work ethic continued to open doors for Kevin. He spent two summer seasons dredging and a season diving under the ice. Kevin really jumped right back in the water. When he is not diving, this family man lives with his wife and children in Ohio. Kevin unapologetically credits his wife and God with helping to turn his life around and keeping him on track. An avid sports fan, Kevin keeps up with everything from baseball and football, to NASCAR on the off season.
