Jon Lovett is co-founder of Crooked Media, where he co-hosts the podcast “Pod Save America” and hosts “Lovett or Leave It.” Prior to this, he was the co-creator, executive producer, and writer of the NBC TV show “1600 Penn,” which was canceled after one season, and a producer on HBO’s “The Newsroom.”

In January 2017, Jon along with former White House aides Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer and Tommy Vietor, launched the political podcast Pod Save America. Each episode, they are joined by journalists, politicians, comedians, and activists for a freewheeling conversation about politics, the press and the challenges posed by the Trump presidency.

Before his screenwriting career, Lovett was a presidential speechwriter in the Obama White House for three years. As part of this role, he helped prepare Obama’s remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, and was once named “Washington’s funniest celebrity.”

Before serving in the White House, Jon was chief speechwriter to then-Senator Hillary Clinton, having served as deputy chief speechwriter on her presidential campaign. Jon is a 2004 graduate of Williams College. He earned a degree in math, co-authoring a peer-reviewed paper in American Mathematical Monthly.

After college but before entering politics, he spent time doing standup at comedy clubs around New York. His amateur comedy career was vindicated years later when he beat Grover Norquist in a standup competition.

Jon currently resides in Los Angeles.
