Janine Turner is an Emmy and three-time Golden Globe-nominated actress known to millions of fans for her role in the hit CBS television show, Northern Exposure. She recently completed filming the movie, Solace, starring opposite Anthony Hopkins, which will be released in September 2016.

She is an avid reader and writer, with a passion for history and politics. Janine’s heartfelt mission is to make a cultural impact on America’s youth and citizens by building awareness of America’s founding principles and values. Chris Wallace of Fox News Sunday says, “Like a modern Paul Revere, Turner will keep spreading the word about our founding fathers.”

She is the author of the Washington Post bestseller book, Holding Her Head High: 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History published by Thomas Nelson Publishers. Most recently, Janine and her daughter, Juliette, completed an album, Mockingbird Hill, for which they composed music and lyrics. It is available on iTunes, and other online music stores.

Janine proudly served as a member of President Bush’s Council on Service and Civic Participation and continues to encourage volunteerism across the country. She traveled across the country volunteering and acknowledging great volunteers with Presidential Volunteer Service Awards at places such as: the Walter Reed Hospital, the American Red Cross, The Boys and Girls Club of America and Single Mother outreaches such as, My Sister’s Place and Inwood House, the Pregnancy Resource Council, Texas Ballet Theatre, the Lois Weber Film Collection, the USA Film Festival, the Inwood House, and Single Parent Outreach of Richland Hills Church of Christ. She held her first, “Holding Her High Awards Ceremony” in Washington DC in 2008 honoring Single Mothers such as Congresswomen Kay Granger and Ellen Tauscher.

Janine is best known for her role as Maggie O’Connell’ in the Emmy Award-winning CBS series, Northern Exposure, for which she earned three Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy nomination. Janine has also starred in the top rated, hit Lifetime series, Strong Medicine and NBC’s critically acclaimed, Friday Night Lights. She has starred in numerous films including Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone, Robert Altman’s Dr. T and the Women, and Steel Magnolias. 
Janine has been awarded People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful and Best Dressed, Us Magazine’s 10 Sexiest and Esquire Magazine’s Women We Love. She is the recipient of the Women at Work Award from the National Commission on Working Women.

Always creating, Janine has produced, directed and acted in an award winning short film, Trip in a Summer Dress for which she won the coveted Best New Emerging Director for a short film at the Deep Ellum Film Festival. She, also, produced and starred in a Christian Yoga DVD, Christoga.

Janine developed a love for the arts at a young age. When she was three, her family moved to Euless, Texas, where Janine began studying acting and dance. In junior high school, she began an apprenticeship with the Fort Worth Ballet and established a successful modeling career in Dallas, which in turn led to her signing with the well-known Wilhelmina Modeling Agency in New York. At the young age of fifteen, Janine was the modeling agency’s youngest client.

Continuing to model in New York, she also attended the Professional Children’s School, and only a year later, back in Texas, landed a recurring role on the hit television series, Dallas, portraying Lucy Ewing’s best friend. It was then that Janine made the decision to graduate from high school a year early, give up modeling and move to Los Angeles in order to pursue her acting career.

New to Los Angeles, she landed a starring role on the late-night CBS soap Behind The Screen, spent a year on the long-running, General Hospital, as Laura Templeton, and appeared in the feature film, Young Doctors in Love. After leaving, General Hospital, Janine attended Pepperdine University with an intention to major in political science. After a semester she was cast in one of the coveted roles, Shevaun Tillman in Dino DeLaurentiis, Tai-Pan. She traveled to China for ten weeks and upon completion of the film, moved back to New York City to continue her theatrical studies.

While in New York, Janine studied with Marcia Haufrecht of The Actor’s Studio and began working off-Broadway. She starred in The Ensemble Studio Theatre production of Full Moon and High Tide in The Ladies Room, and performed with the avant-garde theatre group, The Common Ground Theatre. During this time, she also held a supporting role in George Romero’s Monkey Shines, and had a memorable turn as Olympia Dukakis’ niece, Nancy Beth Marmilion, in the acclaimed feature film, Steel Magnolias.

Additional film credits include a starring role in Curse of the Inferno, and as June Cleaver in Universal’s Leave It to Beaver, in Robert Altman’s feature film, Dr. T and the Women, with Tom Wilkinson in, The Night of the White Pants, and with Leslie Ann Warren in, Miracle Dogs 2, with Mike Norris in Birdie & Bogie, and Maggie’s Passage.

Turner has also starred in a number of highly rated films for television. She starred opposite Jamie Sheridan and Hal Holbrook in the CBS telefilm, Beauty, a CBS movie Stolen WomenCircle of Deceit for ABC, Fatal Error, a TBS original film, and Barbara Taylor Bradford’s, “A Secret Affair,” CBS’s Walker, Texas Ranger, among others.

Janine Turner is a native of Fort Worth and comes from a long line of Texans, including Anson Jones, the last President of the Republic of Texas. Her father is from Athens, Texas and is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He is a member of the elite few who were the first to fly Mach 2 in the 1960s. His aircraft was the famous B-58 Hustler. Her mother, a former beauty queen and successful real estate agent, is from San Antonio, and was educated at Trinity University. Janine and her daughter, Juliette, make their home in Texas on their beloved ranch, Mockingbird Hill.
