James Chapman is a well-known innovator in both the civic and entrepreneurial community. He was nominated for the 2015 White House Demo Day for being Founder of Oil Drop; an online platform and app that gets your oil change delivered.

His most recent venture is Workaholics; a collaborative space for entrepreneurs on a membership basis during the day, and open to the public at night for anyone looking to tackle projects and share ideas.

James is a nationally recognized speaker, and author of ‘#TheHustle’; a book designed to motivate readers to pursue their goals without ceasing. He hosts a local PBS television show, ‘The Leap’, which highlights the challenges and successes of those who’ve taken the big jump into entrepreneurship. In 2014, he delivered a TEDx talk on “Creating a Culture of Selflessness”.

From a civic standpoint, James serves as Entrepreneur-in-Residence with Causeway; a community innovation hub that inspires and equips impact entrepreneurs to bring their ideas to life for a better city. James has a passion true for serving his community and empowering at-risk youth. His desire for serving youth comes from him once being an economically disadvantaged young adult himself.

James was a once recipient of Workforce Investment Act youth program services. After success in the program, he was given the opportunity to provide direct counseling to youth in the program of which he started. He eventually earned a promotion to oversee the entire nine-county wide program. That experience ignited his professional career and eventually led him to becoming a well-respected entrepreneur and community leader.
