Isabel González is the co-author with Carolina Buia of Latin Chic: Entertaining with Style and Sass (Rayo), which captures the best pan-Latin flavors and the unique spirit of Latin entertaining. Playful and practical, it follows González and Buia as they host parties in fabulous locations across Latin America. They were featured on ABC’s The View, NBC’s Today, and Food Network’s Emeril Live. Since its publication González and Buia have utilized their professional media backgrounds to become media spokes people for many Latin-inspired cooking and entertaining promotional campaigns, and González has appeared twice on Food Network’s Iron Chef as a guest judge.
González, a first generation Cuban-American, is a senior editor at InStyle magazine, and was the editor of Hearst’s first ever Hispanic lifestyle magazine Tu Vida. She was previously a Special Projects Editor at Teen People, where she produced lifestyle, fashion, and DIY (do-it-yourself) and home packages as well as managing the Trendspotting program, for which she has appeared frequently on TV. She is a founding member of the first-ever Hispanic employee affinity group at Time Warner, Hola@TimeInc, and served as co-chair. She has written numerous articles on entertaining, fashion, and trends for the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as well as Time, Latina, and Bride’s. Her parents owned an acclaimed Cuban restaurant in Atlanta, Sarita’s, which is where González first developed her passion for Latin food and entertaining.
González lives in New York City.
