Huey Lewis is a singer, songwriter, and actor. He sings lead and plays harmonica for his band, Huey Lewis and the News, in addition to writing or co-writing many of the band’s songs.

Hues learned how to play the harmonica while hitchhiking across the country to New York City and how he learned to play the harmonica while waiting for rides. His unmistakable voice has a rich, textured quality that lends itself well to not just their hits, but also to the variety of other songs featured in the show.

Lewis also brings some bluesy tones to the performance when he breaks out into his harmonica solos. One of the highlights of the show is their a cappella rendition of early rock n’ roll classics such as “It’s Alright”, “Little Bitty Pretty One” and “Sixty Minute Man.”

Huey Lewis and the News is best known for their third, and best-selling, album Sports, and their contribution to the soundtrack of the 1985 feature film Back to the Future. Lewis previously played with the band Clover from 1972 to 1979.

Lewis and his bandmates performed on USA for Africa’s 1985 fund-raising single “We Are the World”.

In addition to his musical career, Lewis made a cameo appearance as a teacher in Back to the Future, played Vern Miller in Robert Altman’s ensemble feature, Short Cuts, and Ricky Dean in Duets.

He has performed in occasional television roles as well, including One Tree Hill, The King of Queens and a recurring character on Hot in Cleveland. Lewis provides the voice of Bulworth the junkyard dog in the animated series Puppy Dog Pals.

In April 2018, Lewis revealed that he was suffering from hearing loss as a result of Ménière’s disease, and canceled all upcoming tour dates.
