Visionary author, performer, and storyteller Echo Brown creates work across mediums designed to inspire and provoke audiences toward meaningful change. A highly acclaimed storyteller, Brown is known for her one-woman show Black Virgins Are Not for Hipsters, which ran for almost three years playing to sold out audiences, and was praised by Alice Walker as “powerful and stunning.” Her award-winning debut novel, Black Girl Unlimited: The Remarkable Story of a Teenage Wizard, was hailed by Esquire as the “arrival of a bold new literary imagination” and appeared on numerous ‘best-of’ lists. Her highly anticipated sophomore novel, The Chosen One: A First Generation Ivy League Odyssey, has been lauded as an essential Black story of our time. Sought-after for her dynamic and impactful keynote speeches, Brown has given two TEDx Talks and spoken at events for high-profile companies Dropbox, Facebook, Google, Pixar, and more.

Brown and her work have been featured in Esquire, The New York Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, the Oakland Tribune, KQED, among others. Her mold-breaking autobiographical young adult fiction is both powerful and vulnerable, earning her a spot as a finalist for the prestigious William C.
