Dr. Helen Powell-Stoddart is a board-certified physician of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She began her career at Oakwood University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree studying Biology and Chemistry.

She pursued her interest in health and the inner workings of the human body by acquiring a Master of Science degree in Anatomy from Howard University in Washington, DC. Continuing on at Howard University School of Medicine, she graduated in the top of her class.

After losing her parents to diet-exacerbated illnesses of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease, her interest in true health was solidified. Learning the causes and mechanisms that diverge to either cause disease or converge to obtain and maintain health led her to continue her training with a Residency at the Johns Hopkins and Sinai Hospital Program in Baltimore, MD.

She was one of only two students accepted each year into the combined Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Internal Medicine in a 5-year challenging residency program at the prestigious university. Difficult as it was, she completed the 2 residency programs at the same time which is a major accomplishment.

She advanced her education through fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Non-Surgical Orthopedics and further trained in Interventional Pain before beginning practice in the Huntsville area. All along, her interest in nutrition and it’s effects were enhanced. Dr. Helen’s pursuit of nutrition and how it affects the health of individuals has been the impetuous for opening her own practice in Madison, Alabama called Pain 2 Wellness Healthcare after practicing medicine for more than 20 years in the traditional realm.

Realizing that “sickcare” was no longer an option to practice in good consciousness, she began using an integrative approach to her practice incorporating both traditional and alternative measures to help individuals obtain optimal health- real “healthcare”.

She seamlessly weaves diet and nutrition into her treatment protocols to promote well-being. Being committed to the memory of her parents and to giving her patients every opportunity to lead a healthy, balanced and pain-free life, she wrote her first book called “Reverse it!”.

It is the blueprint to reversing type 2 diabetes. What can she do for you?
