As one of the most highly touted players in the nation for the Class of 2001 and one of the most decorated athletes to grace the courts of Carroll High School, Chelsea averaged 26.8 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 4.2 steals, and 2.1 blocked shots per game as a senior, was a three-time first-team all-state, twice honored as the Northeast Louisiana Player of the Year, and had her jersey retired. Entering her senior year, Chelsea was rated 10th by the Women’s Basketball Journal, 13th by the All Star Girls Report, and 23rd by Blue Star.

Along with her 2,360 points and 1,066 rebounds she collected during her career, Chelsea was also a member of the track & field team, competing in the high and long jump. A straight A-student, Chelsea was at the top of her class as the valedictorian and was the homecoming queen.

Chelsea attended college in New Jersey at Rutgers University, where she was named the 2005 Big East Defensive Player of the Year, All-Big East 3rd team, MBWA All-First Team, and Naismith National Player of the Year Preseason Candidate. With her guidance, Rutgers became the 2005 BIG EAST Regular Season Champions and earned an appearance in the NCAA Elite 8.

Known as the heart and soul of the Scarlet Knights, when she played well, the team played well. The energy of the team went through Chelsea and her tenacious defensive, which defines her unique style of play.

She majored in sports management, with aspirations of becoming a general manager for a WNBA team in the future. The discipline Chelsea developed on the court was also brought into the classroom. Professors and classmates admired how well she did in the classroom, as well as how well she did on the court. Its not easy being a student-athlete, but Chelsea managed to juggle both and become successful in both. This type of work ethic and determination earned her a spot in the WNBA.

With the 22nd overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft, the Sacramento Monarchs selected Chelsea specifically due to her defensive style. Projected by many in the women’s basketball world as a long shot to make the team, Chelsea proved all doubters wrong by starting every single game and earning a spot on the All-Rookie team. As one of the top rookies in the league, Chelsea played a crucial role in the Monarchs Championship year.

After five seasons in the WNBA, Chelsea retired from the league and was an assistant coach at Rutgers University from 2010-2015. She is currently an assistant and recruiting coordinator at the University of Georgia.
