A passionate vocalist with an acoustic-leaning, retro-soul-influenced style, Charlie Puth first gained renown for his YouTube videos. After performing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Puth signed with Atlantic Records and released his 2015 debut single, “Marvin Gaye,” which featured “All About That Bass” sensation Meghan Trainor. He also guested on Wiz Khalifa’s single “See You Again” around that time.
Puth followed up the success of those singles with the release of his debut EP, 2015’s Some Type of Love, which had a fun, uplifting mainstream pop sound.
Puth’s single “One Call Away” was released to build anticipation for his 2016 full-length debut album, Nine Track Mind. The single reached number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and topped charts in New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, and the United Kingdom.
Puth continued to build on his success with his second full-length album, Voicenotes, which debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 to positive critical reviews. Voicenotes featured the singles “Attention” and “How Long.”
Puth attended Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, where he studied jazz piano. He went on to graduate from the prestigious Berklee School of Music in Boston in 2013, having majored in music production and engineering.
Puth is an anti-bullying advocate, having personally been severely bullied in high school for being different and “having music in his head.”
