A celebrated author, columnist and historian, Andy Ferguson has been a senior editor of The Weekly Standard, off and on since 1995. He’s been a columnist for Time, Fortune, TV Guide, ForbesLife, Bloomberg News, and The Washingtonian. He has also written for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post and many other publications. In 1992, he worked as a White House speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush.

Ferguson has been a frequent guest on radio and TV, appearing on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered, CBS Evening News, NBC Nightly News, Hardball, CNN’s Late Edition, Fox News Sunday, and many other broadcasts.

In anticipation of the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Celebration in 2008-9, Ferguson published a critically acclaimed look at Abraham Lincoln’s place in today’s America, Land of Lincoln: Adventures in Abe’s America. Called “hilarious” by The New York Times and “a funny, sad, savage, and tender account of contemporary America” by The Minneapolis Star Tribune, Land of Lincoln was named a Favorite Book of the Year by both The Chicago Tribune and The Wall Street Journal.

“Andy Ferguson has accomplished a most unusual feat,” writes Lincoln historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, “He gives us a fresh look at Abraham Lincoln and his impact on our country.” Novelist and satirist Christopher Buckley adds: “Ferguson just may be the writer of his generation.”

Ferguson is currently writing a book about college life in America for Simon and Schuster, to be published in 2010. He is also the author of a collection of essays, Fools’ Names, Fools’ Faces (1996). He lives with his wife and two children in Arlington, Virginia.
