Alan Keys former Reagan Administration official, Alan L. Keyes was born in New York, son of a US Army Sergeant. He is recognized as a leader in the Conservative movement and one of today’s most demanded orators and television and radio commentators. Author of “Our Character, Our Future and Masters of the Dream,” Keyes is currently the Interim President of Alabama A&M University.
Keyes also serves as the US Ambassador to the United Nations Social and Economic Council and as the Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations.
As a leader and citizen activist, Keyes was a Republican candidate for President in 1996 and 2000; a twice-Republican nominee to the US Senate for the state of Maryland; former Vice President of the Ronald Reagan Alumni Association; 1992 featured speaker at the Republican National Convention in Houston, Texas; and is currently the newly elected President of the Ronald Reagan Alumni Association. He also served as the former President of Citizens Against Government Waste; Founder of National Taxpayer Action Day; and Founder and Chairman of the Declaration Foundation.
In August 2004, the Illinois Republican Party drafted Alan Keyes to run against Barack Obama for the U.S. Senate. Obama defeated Keyes.
Keyes again ran for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. He ultimately earned two delegates to the Republican National Convention.
In March 2008, Keyes left the Republican Party and joined the Constitution Party. He lost the party’s nomination to Chuck Baldwin. His supporters then formed a new group, America’s Independent Party, which was only on the ballot in three states.
On November 14, 2008, Keyes filed a lawsuit charging Barack Obama with fraudulent misrepresentation of his place of birth. Keyes refused to recognize Obama as the president, and has called him a “usurper” and a “radical communist.”
In addition to his political work, Keyes has hosted several syndicated radio and television programs. He also appeared in the 2006 film Borat.

Indiana Black Americans for Life (BAL) drew a capacity crowd to its Third Annual Proudly Pro-Life, Pro-Family Banquet held November 4 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Indianapolis. The banquet featured an address by Republican presidential candidate Alan Keyes. Mr. Keyes stirred the banquet attendees with the challenge that … ‘it is so important that black Americans be involved (in the Pro-Life Movement).’
A Keyes speech on the moral erosion of America is one of those transcendent experiences where you just have to be there. It’s hard to explain how he touches the soul of an audience, and saying that he’s ‘silver-tongued’ (as everyone does) only tarnishes the picture by inadequacy.
Well, have to say it was a success. Dr. Keyes gave a great speech, with a standing ovation. His message about faith was truly inspiring. In the Q&A he was able to amplify and personalize his relationship with God by outlining the Gospel message of Christ. This served to close the circle concerning our heritage of freedom in this nation (and the source of that freedom…religious and otherwise), and the message of Jesus that each person has intrinsic worth determined by a higher power, not by any man, and that we will only keep this freedom by living out the Gospel message. The attendance was approximately 200, which we think was limited by a big storm advertised to hit the area by 9pm last night, still, not a bad crowd considering. The audience had lots of questions, so probably could have gone on all night, but ended the program at 9:45pm. On behalf of the students here at Wayne, thanks so much for your help and efforts in making this possible, and please relay these thanks to Debbie and your staff, it really made an impact on this campus.
